A synthesizer whose
connections are part of playing it.

Sound studies
One rack. One change. Listen.
Recorded examples are being prepared with the instrument. A rack can demonstrate the mechanism directly: hear it settle, change a parameter, then compare.
Examples to capture
Move through a source. Compare short sparse grains with longer overlapping ones. Add modulation, then trace its effect through the rack.
These diagrams explain the mechanism. The recordings will demonstrate the sound.

Technical detail
A modular instrument
Original LOOM combines granular sound, oscillators, sequencing, modulation and effects in a browser rack. You can play an existing patch or make your own connections.
Separate from LOOM Works
LOOM Works is the later host for instruments and modules. This explanation concerns the original LOOM synthesizer.
About this explanation
Diagrams follow the inspected implementation and illustrate its mechanisms. They are not live audio measurements. Recorded sound examples and editorial review are pending.
Local preview / September 2026. Narration uses chapter timing; word alignment is pending.
